Episode 971:
In the wake of the Parkland Florida school shooting, the second amendment has come under attack and a growing cry for gun control is everywhere. The calls for the outright repeal of the second amendment are everywhere in the news cycles of the lamestream media. Every time a mass shooting takes place the debate on gun control gets new life breathed in it.
Too many people do not have a fundamental understanding of natural rights and how the Bill of Rights protects them from government overreach. Can a natural right be taken away by the government through legislation? If some Americans want to give up some of their natural rights, does that mean we all have too?
On the show, we are going to explain natural rights, the Bill of Rights, and how the second amendment should be understood. We have a lack of teaching about these subjects in America and because of this, we need honest and open dialog from both sides of the gun debate in America.
Daily Bible Reading: Ephesians 4:1-3 I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, 2 with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, 3 endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
Quotemeal: “We can do nothing, we say sometimes, we can only pray. That, we feel, is a terribly precarious second-best. So long as we can fuss and work and rush about, so long as we can lend a hand, we have some hope; but if we have to fall back upon God — ah, then things must be critical indeed!” — A. J. Gossip

John Locke: Natural Rights to Life, Liberty, and Property By Jim Powell fee.org 8/1/1996
John Locke; Government
He expressed the radical view that government is morally obliged to serve people, namely by protecting life, liberty, and property. He explained the principle of checks and balances to limit government power. He favored representative government and a rule of law. He denounced tyranny. He insisted that when government violates individual rights, people may legitimately rebel.
John Locke; Rights
The first part of the theory of natural rights consists of basic rights which are derived from the law of nature and encompasses such things as life, liberty and property. The theory mandates that the highest priority be given to individual self-preservation and whatever is necessary to achieve the preservation of the individual, people may legitimately rebel.
